The House in Filellinon
Ayios Andreas, 1100, Nicosia
The dynamic house is located in the leafy quiet neighbourhood of Ayios Andreas in Nicosia.
The proposal is conceived as a horizontal bridge interconnecting two sites of the Garden located within the boundaries of the plot.
The white volume hovering above ground level, provides shelter to the living areas below, inviting the “greenery” to extent its natural boundaries within the internal living quarters.
The local solid stone walls, wood in combination with the large openings, gradually “dissolve” giving way to the naturally enrich plantation.
Internal and external become one, “erasing” the tectonic boundaries of the proposal, allowing the dynamic white volume on top, where the slipping quarters are located to make its presence.
The “pure white” in combination with natural sunlight, shadows reconfigure the overall external envelope, reducing the material pallet of the proposal to minimum, emphasizing the lightness of the rooms located within.
