KE - Residence
The proposed House, situated in an urban residential area in Strovolos, perceives the neighbourhood's character, creating an ideal dwelling with comfortable living spaces that are both functional and sustainable.
The inception of the Proposal is achieved by introducing two volumes on the ground and upper level.
The volume at ground level is translucent, expanding its indoor boundaries further out, allowing interaction with the garden, connecting the User with the environment, and maximising the spatial qualities.
The volume on the upper level is solid, providing privacy and shelter to the sleeping area from the outside while framing interesting views of the surrounding area.
A lower level is introduced, providing additional servicing areas and storage.
The Dynamic white volume on top, in arrangement with the translucent volume on the bottom, balances the overall Proposal and establishes a link between simplicity and functionality.
The selection of earthy materials on ground level, such as local stone and natural wood, in dialogue with the proposed translucent surfaces elevates the spatial and programmatic qualities of the Proposal.
Taking into consideration of Cyprus' intense sunlight, on the upper volume the material palette is reduced into "pure white", projecting a feeling of tranquillity and lightness to the inhabitant.
The white projected screens hovering above ground level on either side act as a filtering device, deflecting intense heat and external noise while cooling down the air and allowing for natural sunlight to gently interact with the bedrooms.
The Design provides a unique experience, both spatial and programmatic, allowing the user to enhance the predetermined living standards.
