EXI Platres

Platres, Limassol

This project is developed in parallel with the existing diversity of the highly dense and multi-level topography of the site located in Pano Platres in the Limassol District.

Accessibility from the highest existing Road Level, provides direct connectivity throughout the challenging typology of the site.

Using the existing morphology, tectonic elements are introduced, interlocking landscape and Build Form, achieving a strong relationship between the User and Nature.

The proposed Houses emerges throughout the topological design process, generating multiple functions, views and connectivity.

The Design emphasizes the coherency of indoor and outdoor spaces. Elements of transmittance, natural green plantation and focal points are highlighted by openings at different levels.

The intense topology of the site lead to the design of in-cave structures, aiming at the conservation of natural environment qualities and the use of bioclimatic approach.

The rough feeling of a natural cavity, that leads towards in-cave structures, becomes the choice of materials used, fully integrating the design into the landscape, living attached the nature beauty of the forest.

Stone, wood, exposed concrete and metal is the palette of tools, used for enhancing and reconstructing the overall tectonic and special boundaries of the project.

The configuration of both “primitive” and “geometric” architectural elements, refer to the use of local natural stone and wood, in contrast with the geometric elongated white concrete Slab, projected above ground level as the dominant axis, proving shelter to the spaces below.

The reconfiguration of the special qualities from indoor to outdoor is achieved by “dissolving” the transitional boundaries, reconfiguring the special and programmatic organization, connecting the User with the external natural qualities of the forest.

User and nature interconnect and co-exist in harmony, under the sheltering qualities of the elongated horizontal “axis”, stretching the existing green surface of the site, floating above ground, dynamically signifying the architectural intervention of the proposal.
