Private Apartment Block, 2010, Nicosia
Located in the centre of metropolitan Nicosia, the proposed apartment block consisting of six 160m² units, re-examines the relation between private and public systems.
The elliptical tectonic plate at the front facade facing the road, transforms into a “memory wall”, absorbing fragments of the city’s “noise”, like a collective camera framing views and actions of the surroundings, were the inhabitants become the observer and vise versa.
Fragment of the building “opens up” into the city allowing natural sunlight to gently insert the inner cord of the living areas.
The morphology of the building interacts with natural sunlight, used as a tool re-animating the buildings external, internal, spatial and programmatic qualities accordingly.
