Ayios Andreas

Private House, 2010, Nicosia

The house located in the dense area of Ayios Andreas in Nicosia with the front facade / entrance facing the boarders of the existing road.
The building has sustained a lot of changes through time gradually loosing its initial architectural identity. The aim is to reintroduce the formal, special and programmatic character of the house, re-configuring is “context” by introducing a modern architectural “intervention - insertion”, between old and new. The exposed facade of the house is re-design so a to screen the internal programme from the existing road providing for more private spaces.
The internal programme is reveled at the rear elevation of the house, opening up the living, sleeping rooms into a more secluded, private garden at the back.
