Stock Exchange
Architectural Competition for Ministry of Finance, 2002, Nicosia
Architects: Constantinos Kalisperas / Marinos Vrahimis
The proposed building of the Stock Exchange is located along the urban Axes connecting the old with the new part of the Capital, with the site situated in the hard of the most critical infrastructure programs (House of Representatives, State Museum of Art, Cultural Centre and State Theatre). At lower level the building interconnects, extending its boundaries into the future GSP Park / square, re-positioning its context in the broader urban scale. Servicing towers become support for the upper office floor levels, providing the structure for the long spans, creating uninterrupted open plan office spaces, maximizing flexibility and flow taking advantage of the endlessly shifting natural light qualities of the park opposite and its surrounding areas. The Dealing Chamber access from the ground / park level, is “uplifted” and becomes the central tectonic core of the proposal.
