Urban Square, 2008, Old Port Marina Limassol

Re-configuring the existing Axis linking the Old part of Limassol with the New Marina Port, a dynamic urban space is generated by re-positioning and introducing existing and new spatial and programmatic “qualities” within the boundaries of the Old Port Marina site, linking Old with New.
The proposal is conceived as a projection of the broader urban scale, rather than a fragmented site-specific solution.
The small-scale building where the local naval museum is located elevates above the re-configured organic topography, intruding a square park, theatre accommodating many different activities.
Old and New programme can be achieved simultaneously or individually at different time frames within the proposed site boundaries and beyond, stretching its context as “confetti” further into the city’s urban access and beyond.
Materials are used in their natural, “pure white” contexts as tools, interacting with the natural endlessly shifting qualities of the existing panoramic sea views and its surrounding.
